Hua Boss Guide: Deadly Betrothed & Scarlet Wraithblade
Beat Hua, the Deadly Betrothed: white-lotus trap reads, teleport punishes, and how to claim the Scarlet Wraithblade at the Sha-Chi summit.
Hua, the Deadly Betrothed, waits at the summit of Sha-Chi in Weeping Creek Valley. She is the first boss who refuses to stand still: she teleports, leaves lotus traps on the floor, and punishes a static guard with a grab that can end a run in one mistake.
She also drops the Scarlet Wraithblade, a Two-Handed weapon with a strong guard-break profile. The fight is worth learning properly, because her teleport rhythm reappears in later duels.

Keep moving sideways. Dodge the white-lotus grab, punish the recovery after her teleport slash, and never stand in the flowers. One heavy combo per opening is enough.
Location and reward
| Detail | Answer |
|---|---|
| Region | Weeping Creek Valley, summit of Sha-Chi |
| Type | Mandatory story boss |
| Reward | Scarlet Wraithblade (Two-Handed weapon) |
| Weakness | Long recovery after teleport attacks |
| Hazard | White lotus flowers on the arena floor |
Attack table
| Attack | Tell | Answer | Punish |
|---|---|---|---|
| White Lotus | She pauses and petals gather at your feet | Move laterally out of the bloom; do not dodge backward | Punish her channel after the flower fades |
| Lotus Grab | A flower opens and a hand reaches out | Dodge away from the flower, not through it | One light attack if she whiffs |
| Double Spinning Slash | Two rotating cuts with a short gap | Parry the first, dodge the second if it flashes red | One heavy attack after the second |
| Instant Slash | She vanishes and reappears beside you | Dodge as she reappears, then turn and attack | One light attack |
| Overhead Slash | A slow vertical cut with a blue flash | Parry or step to her flank | Two light attacks |
The white lotus is the fight's real mechanic. It is a delayed area denial: the flower blooms where you were standing, then grabs anyone still inside. The answer is to keep strafing, not to stop and fight in place. If you are rooted in a combo when the petals appear, cancel out and move.
Teleport rhythm
Hua's teleport has three outcomes:
- Instant Slash — she reappears at your side and cuts immediately. Dodge on the reappearance flash.
- Overhead Slash — she reappears in front and raises the blade. Parry or step behind.
- Reposition — she reappears at range and resets. Close the distance, but do not run in a straight line through a flower.
The mistake is chasing her original position. Watch the reappearance, not the disappearance. The camera lock helps, but unlock if the teleport puts her behind you and the lock drags the view through the arena hazards.
Phase strategy
Hua's second phase adds more flowers and shortens the gap between teleports. She does not gain a new weapon; she gains speed. The same answers apply, but you get fewer free hits.
- Open with a light combo, then strafe. Do not commit to a heavy until you have seen her first teleport.
- Clear the flowers mentally. Keep the centre of the arena open; fight on the edges only when you have to.
- Punish the whiffed grab. It has the longest recovery of her moves and confirms a full heavy combo.
- Use the Scarlet Wraithblade's guard break. Its heavy attacks pressure her block between teleports; the Lv10 Hidden Thorns passive adds explosion damage and drains enemy Sha-Chi.
- Stay off the walls. The arena edge limits your lateral dodge, which is exactly where the lotus wants you.
Recommended loadout
| Slot | Pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Fast One-Handed blade | Reliable punish after teleports |
| Weapon | Scarlet Wraithblade (after the fight) | Strong guard break for later duels |
| Phantom Edge | Ranged edge | Hits her during repositioning |
| Skill | Redirect Force | Refunds Sha-Chi on dodges |
| Skill | Thousand-Mile Stride | Helps reset spacing after a teleport |
Common mistakes
- Dodging backward into a flower. The bloom is placed behind your current position; move sideways.
- Trying to out-trade her teleport. She recovers faster than a heavy combo if you start late.
- Ignoring the grab. It is unblockable and does critical damage; treat the flower as a live hitbox.
- Fighting without lock-on. The teleport is easier to track with the camera anchored, even if you unlock for the dodge.
