Phantom Blade Zero Map: Every Region, Bell & Secret

Every Phantom Blade Zero region in order, what each map hides, how bell checkpoints and fast travel work, and the optional areas that gate the perfect ending.

Last Updated: 2026-10-30

Phantom Blade Zero is region-based rather than one seamless open world. The story moves through six main regions, each with its own bell network, side paths, and boss arena. Two optional areas — the Mountain of Imprisonment and the Meigu Lake mirror — sit outside the main route and hold perfect-ending requirements.

This page explains how the map works, what each region contains, and which locations are easy to lose after a chapter transition.

The short version

Rest at every bell to reveal the local map. Red map icons mean you are missing a required piece of gear; teal means you have it. Do not leave a region before clearing its optional boss and the local Quick Hand Zhang appearance.

How the map works

System Detail
Structure Chapter-based regions, not one open world
Checkpoints Bells
Fast travel Traverse from any bell
Map reveal Resting at a bell reveals nearby detail
Gear icons Red = missing required gear, teal = owned
Collectibles Bells, Phantom Edges, Weapons, Accessories, Medicines, Challenge Locations, Sha-Chi Amber, Blackstone, Memory Flowers
Optional areas Mountain of Imprisonment, Crimson Manor, Meigu Lake mirror

The map is intentionally sparse. It shows paths, bells, and major landmarks, not every chest. If a side path dead-ends, it usually means you need a traversal Phantom Edge — the Dread Axe breaks chains, and several routes in Weeping Creek Valley are blocked without it.

Main regions in order

Weeping Creek Valley

The first full region. It contains the Valley Outpost, the Sha-Chi summit, and the road toward the Crimson Forest. Peng Meng and Hua are the region bosses.

  • Bells: Valley Outpost, Sha-Chi approach, summit.
  • Key loot: Dread Axe (Peng Meng), Scarlet Wraithblade (Hua).
  • Optional: Aberrant Three-Faced Puppet, Jagged Steel the Frenzied Brute, Crimson Manor (late-game).
  • Perfect ending: one Long Pillar; Crimson Manor hidden boss (Crystal Puppet Eye [Yang]); Quick Hand Zhang appearance.

Crimson Forest

A denser forest region built around Pangzhen Bridge and the road to the city. Hua Qianxiao is the main duel; the forest also holds serpent content.

  • Bells: forest entrance, bridge approach, inner grove.
  • Key loot: The Fanatic's Broken Blade (Hua Qianxiao).
  • Optional: Stone Hand Iron Fever, Bai Chilian the Sacrificial Serpent, Jing Ye the Outlaw.
  • Perfect ending: one Long Pillar; serpent relic; Quick Hand Zhang appearance.

Village of Lu

The puppet region. The Broken Puppet Pit and Lakefield sit under and beside the village, and the lift west of the Puppet Testing Grounds opens the path to Mu Xiaokui.

  • Bells: village square, Puppet Testing Grounds, Broken Puppet Pit, Lakefield lift.
  • Key loot: Puppeteer's Bell (Dusk).
  • Optional: Yuzan No. 3, Zhuo Bi the Gatekeeper, Master Bi Yuan, Master Bi Hai.
  • Perfect ending: Acolyte Yanru (Blazing Mask); Quick Hand Zhang appearance.

Pangzhen

The largest city region. The story route moves through the streets, the bridge, and the Blackwater crew's territory. This is where the optional Acolyte Leiting appears.

  • Bells: city gate, market, bridge, docks.
  • Optional: Wu Xuan the Fallen General, Gu Wanyue the Wailing Wraith, Chang Hong the Thunder Lancer, You Loong, the Lion Dance Grandmaster, Soulclaimer.
  • Perfect ending: Acolyte Leiting (Thunder Mask); Quick Hand Zhang appearance.

Mandate Encampment

A military encampment with formation fights and puppet tests. Wan Jun, the Coppermaul, drops the Bashpole Phantom Edge.

  • Bells: encampment gate, training yard, command tent.
  • Key loot: Bashpole (Wan Jun).
  • Optional: Red the Mysterious Swordswoman, Chief Disciple of the Seven-Stars Formation, Yubi No. 21.

Meigu Lake

The lake region ties the serpent and mirror content together. The Sha-Chi boat on the west side is the route to the mirror, but it only works once you have all four Acolyte masks.

  • Bells: lakeside, boat dock, west shore.
  • Optional: Zhu Yuan the Searing Blade, Grief-Stricken Jin, One-Eyed Archer, You Loong (second encounter), Yan Qiansui the Zither Maiden, Heartpiercer.
  • Perfect ending: Acolyte Guhe (Venom Mask); one Long Pillar; the mirror entrance; Quick Hand Zhang's final appearance.

Optional and hidden areas

Area How to reach it Why go
Mountain of Imprisonment Late-game optional route; no story prompt Crystal Puppet Eye [Yin]
Crimson Manor Late-game residence in Weeping Creek Valley Hidden boss; Crystal Puppet Eye [Yang]; Acolyte Hansui
Meigu Lake mirror Sha-Chi boat, west side, with four masks Mirror boss; statue for both eyes; Long Pillar
Baishan sect ruins Optional ruins tied to the Baishan Stormswords Dual-Wield weapon and sect lore
Challenge Locations Marked combat trials in each region Remnant Dust, materials, practice

The Mountain of Imprisonment and Crimson Manor are the two areas most players miss. Neither is required for the standard ending, and both close after the final point of no return.

Bells and fast travel

Bells are the only checkpoint type. Resting at one:

  • restores HP and refills medicine,
  • reveals nearby map detail,
  • refills Phantom Edge charges,
  • lets you train or reset abilities,
  • becomes a fast-travel destination.

You do not need to walk back to a previous region to use its bell; the Traverse menu lists every bell you have activated. That makes optional cleanup manageable before the finale.

Map icons and gear gates

Red icons on the map mark obstacles that require a specific piece of gear. Teal icons mean you already own the required item. The most common gate is a chain barrier: equip the Dread Axe and interact to break it.

If an icon stays red and you do not recognize the requirement, check your Phantom Edge inventory first. Traversal tools are edges, not key items, and the map does not always name them.

Collectible logic

Collectible What it does
Bells Checkpoints and fast travel
Phantom Edges Secondary weapons and traversal tools
Weapons Primary arsenal
Accessories Resistances and build stats
Medicines Healing upgrades
Challenge Locations Combat trials for materials
Sha-Chi Amber Advanced ability material
Blackstone +10% Attack Power and Guard Break per fragment; also gates skills
Memory Flowers Rare ability and story material

Blackstone is the one collectible worth going out of your way for. Each fragment is a permanent offensive boost, and the same material is spent on advanced skills.

FAQ

How big is the Phantom Blade Zero map?

It is region-based, with six main regions plus optional areas. There is no single seamless open world, and the map is gated by chapter progression rather than a level requirement.

Is the map interconnected?

Regions connect through story transitions and bell fast travel, not one continuous open map. You can return to earlier regions from the Traverse menu.

What are the red icons on the map?

Red icons mark gear-gated obstacles you have not opened yet. Teal means you own the required gear. The Dread Axe is the most common key.

Where is the Mountain of Imprisonment?

It is an optional late-game region, off the main route. It holds Crystal Puppet Eye [Yin], which is required for the perfect ending.

How do you get to the Meigu Lake mirror?

Collect all four Acolyte masks, then take the Sha-Chi boat from Meigu Lake to the west side near the ice floats and snow mountain. Dock and enter the mirror.

Can you fast travel in Phantom Blade Zero?

Yes, from any activated bell using the Traverse option.
